Several days ago I received an email from Amy at Little Yellow Sheep informing me that she had nominated me for a Liebster Award.  Some of you may be wondering “what the heck is a Liebster Award?”  Well, the Liebster Award is given to bloggers who have under 200 followers that have been nominated by other bloggers to congratulate and promote them

liebster-awardAmy probably thinks I’ve fallen off the face of the earth or something because it’s taken me so long to properly thank her (it’s just been very crazy around here), but thank you Amy, I really do appreciate it!

Now to answer 10 questions about Fanciful Things (and myself) from Amy.

  • What inspired you to start blogging?

I have blogged for about 8 years for our software business, but this is the first blog that I’ve ever done that was about being creative and working with yarn.  I started the blog here on Fanciful Things to build a bond with myself and my customers (both current and future), to let them know about the items I’m making, where I get my inspiration from.

  • What is your goal for your blog by the end of the year?

My goal for my blog by the end of the year is to have an active community featuring other crafters as well as customers.

  • If you could have any skill or ability, what would it be?

I wish I had the ability to work on multiple projects at the exact same time LOL

  • What is the one thing you want your audience to take away from reading your blog?

Most importantly letting people see the process that is involved in making a handcrafted item.  You simple can’t just wiggle your nose and have it completed – a quality handcrafted item takes many hours to complete.

  • If one important figure were to read your blog, who would you wish it to be?

That’s a tough one, I’m really not sure.

  • What career did you think you would have when you were in kindergarten?

When I was in kindergarten I wanted to be a nurse – as it turns out that would never have worked as I can’t stand the sight of blood!

  • What is your favorite exotic color?

I don’t know if this would be “exotic” or not, but I absolutely love the color of salmon poppies!  It’s not an orange or a pink, but a cross between the two.

  • If you could visit any country with an unlimited amount of funds, where would you go and what would you buy?

Oh, that’s easy!  I would visit the Netherlands so that I could meet the wonderful ladies I’ve met in the Fantirumi’s and more group on Facebook in person.   Then I would grab 3 ladies in particular (Esther, Pam, and Jeannette) and we’d go on a yarn shopping spree and I’d come home with boxes & boxes of the lovely 100% cotton yarn that they get!

  • What is one invention you wish you had that would be useful for everyday living?

Oh, I’d love a Rosie the Robot (from The Jetson’s cartoon) to be my maid, cook, and overall housekeeper!

  • What is your favorite season?

Spring is my absolute, hands down favorite season!  Everything wakes up from a long winter nap!

Now, it’s my turn.  I would like to nominate the following blogs:

Nancy Smyth

Hi, I'm Nancy I'm a yarn addict, number cruncher/bookkeeper, and software developer. Strange combination right? I get the same feeling of joy when working with high quality yarns that I do when a column of numbers are all neatly aligned and add up properly.
