I’m really enjoying crocheting this doll – my husband thinks I’m going through a second childhood I think.  But I can seriously say that I want to make another, and another, and another!

I’ve assembled both arms and have been making clothes.  All the clothing so far is made from #10 crochet cotton (because that’s what I currently have on hand) and a size 2 hook.  In the future, I’ll use something thicker – #30 cotton, fine fingering yarn, or perhaps sock yarn – because it takes a long time to make clothes for this doll with the #10; but first I have to take a road trip with hooks and doll in hand so I can get the right feel for the size of the yarn.

Here she is, partially assembled with some clothes.  She has a jacket, a tank top and some little tap panties.  Unfortunately, she still doesn’t have her head attached!  Mainly because I need to make that road trip to find yarn for hair and I still need to figure out which head I like better – it would also probably help if I actually put eyes on the head on the right instead of having stitch markers!  And I still need to attach her lower legs – but first she needs boots and I thought it would be a whole lot easier to try on the boots as they were being made if I just had the lower leg and not the entire body.

Here’s a close-up of the clothes.  The upper collar on the jacket needs another row of tight double crochet I discovered when taking these pictures.  Definitely a work-in-progress 🙂

So here is the upper body, in a sitting position.

She still needs a skirt, which I’m working on now.  But is definitely getting closer to being a finished project!

The clothes have actually been hard, the patterns I found were for Barbie dolls (and this gal is far from being Barbie sized or proportioned), so I’ve taken the basic pattern and reworked, resized, and modified them – keeping track of my changes.  Of course I’ll have to do that all over again with the next doll if I change to a bigger sized cotton or yarn for the clothes.

Hi, I'm Nancy I'm a yarn addict, number cruncher/bookkeeper, and software developer. Strange combination right? I get the same feeling of joy when working with high quality yarns that I do when a column of numbers are all neatly aligned and add up properly.
